'Crescendo' - The Fun Choir - But We Need Men

Since 2004 when Crescendo Choir was formed, it has gone from strength to strength, and every year sees an improvement in performance, and is now regarded by many as one of the best ex-pat choirs in the area.

Crescendo gives several concerts each year and has raised thousands of euro for charity.

Essentially the emphasis is on Crescendo being a fun choir with a good social atmosphere.

New singers are always welcome – please go to the Contact page to find out how to get in touch with members.

Christmas break - last rehearsal 10th December to 14th January 2019

The choir, made up of Soprano, Mezzo, Alto, Tenor and Bass, sings a wide variety of songs ranging from musicals to spirituals, from pop to classical and all types in between!  We’ve even sung nursery rhymes!

Crescendo lives up to its name of ‘Internacional’ because of the many nationalities in its membership, including Dutch, German, Finnish and Danish, with Spanish Musical Director and Pianist.

The choir rehearses once a week on Monday 5.30pm to 8.00pm at the Sacko’s Bar ,Plaza International, Urb el Limonar, 03184 Torrevieja Alicante

Based in Torrevieja on the Costa Blanca, Spain, it is registered as a charitable organisation and has made many contributions to charities all over Spain and in particular in Alicante Province.

Newsletter .....Dear Friends of Crescendo,

It is time to bring you up to date with the Choir's activities.

First of all, our talented Music Director, Irene has succeeded in passing her examinations which enables her now to take up a permanent teaching contract. We are delighted for her BUT it has meant some changes to our rehearsal times. We are still singing in El Paraiso bar/restaurant but now it takes place between 5.30pm and 8pm on Mondays. This also enables our accompanist, Toni to continue his Master's studies on the harpsichord by attending classes in Madrid at the weekend.

Since starting on 7 September we have had several new members and the choir is growing apace. It is exciting to see how we are growing and increasing in talent.

We have several concerts lined up for our Autumn/Winter programme.

Our first is at the Corazon Sagrado church in Torrevieja on Saturday 20th October starting at 8.15pm. The bucket collection will be in aid of the local Caritas fund.

On 2nd December we are singing at Benijofar church at 7.30pm. We will be donating chocolate goodies to provide local chikdren with a bit of Christmas cheer and our closing bucket collection will be donated to the local Social food bank.

On 5th December we are giving a concert in La Siesta Church at 6.30pm as a memorial for one of our dear members, Ken Webb. Ken was also a member of The Royal British Legion and the closing bucket collection will be donated to Torrevieja Branch of the Legion.

Our final concert for 2018 will be at our rehearsal home, El Paraiso (near Carrefour) on Sunday 16th December at 4pm. Tickets for this cost €5 which includes a drink (small beer, wine, water or coffee). This is a fun concert for you all to join in and get in the mood for Christmas. There will be a large raffle and all proceeds are used to help fund the choir's expenses - remuneration for our Music Director, Accompanist and for any travel expenses to venues away from Torrevieja.

I hope that you will be able to join in some of these concerts and if you have any suggestions for future venues and charities do please let me know.

I attach a copy of our poster advertising our next concert in Torrevieja on 20 October and would be grateful if you would display it in your community or neighbouring bars please.(in events page)

I look forward to seeing some of you soon and take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy, blesséd Christmas and a healthy and prosperous 2019.
